ICOM will host a webinar on 24 June on "Preparing for the Reopening of Museums: The Aftermath of a Pandemic" from 15:00-16:15 (Central European Summer Time).
It will engage all participants in a discussion to take stock of what happened during these long months of closing, assessing the innovative projects that have proved useful for the future. Following an introductory speech by Dr Peter Keller, Director General of ICOM, the core debate will gather four international specialists from the museum sector, coordinated by Vinod Daniel, moderator of the webinar. The discussion will evaluate the global impact of the current pandemic on cultural institutions – with its short-term and long-term consequences on museums – while also focusing on the delicate actions to be undertaken during the upcoming phase of reopening.
Drawing on their vast professional experience, the participants will provide the audience with examples of museums’ initiatives which have proven their effectiveness in the current context. Speakers include Laishun An (Vice President, ICOM); Vinod Daniel (Chairman, AusHeritage, Australia); Elke Kellner (Director, ICOM Austria); Peter Keller (Director General, ICOM); Cristina Lleras (Curator, Museum of Bogota, Colombia); and Christian Nana Tchuisseu (President, ICOM Cameroon).
