Interpret Europe Conference 2020

Interpret Europe Conference 2020 will focus on "Fostering heritage communities", exploring how heritage communities are a cornerstone of the Council of Europe's Faro Convention.

The conference will discuss the significance of layered interpretation through encompassing multiple narratives to establish practices that accommodate the values people attach to heritage. It will explore new developments in heritage interpretation theory and practice through a packed programme of inspiring speeches, workshops, presentations, and study visits on bringing heritage communities to life. Interpret Europe is a membership-based organisation with more than 900 members from more than 50 countries.

Due to COVID-19, this conference will be held on the web with support from organising partners, SALM, the Foundation of Haapsalu and Läänemaa Museums. The programme for each day will be composed the previous day and will be shared via e-mail to attendees. Four speakers will open each of the four days of the conference with a keynote address. There is a call for podcasts on heritage interpretation for attendees to listen while doing something else (e.g. preparing a meal). Speeches and presentations can be viewed until 31 May 2020.
