Organised by UCL Qatar and The Cyprus Institute, the second international conference on Museum Big Data will be held onsite in Nicosia, Cyprus and online.
The theme this year will be "Museums on Lockdown: Unleashing new opportunities for creativity and experimentation with big data". The MBD conferences aims to address and gather academics, practitioners, and technologists engaged in the current research discourse on the new trends of the Museum Big Data domain and showcase experimental work. The conference will explore how museums and heritage/memory institutions, theories, practices and meanings are shaped via (Big) data.
Topics discussed will include Museum Big Data in the COVID-19 and post COVID-19 times; theoretical issues and critical approaches; data-driven museums and the world; data mining methodologies and research approaches; issues on data preservation, use and re-use in galleries, libraries, archives and museums; open access; metadata and documentation; data management and applications; digital narratives and flows; and social media.
