  • King's College London, Bush House, 30 Aldwych London, WC2B 4BG United Kingdom (map)

Museums in Arabia 2019 is hosted and supported by King’s College London.

The series encourages cross-disciplinary exchange and engagement, attracting academics and practitioners from various research specialisations and geographic locations. The 2019 conference will explore the regional and international actors and agents who are actively involved in producing and challenging cultural formations and systems of knowledge production in the Gulf States. It welcomes critical analyses and case studies from the Arabian Peninsula that examine official government-sanctioned museum and cultural practices; institutional cultures and professional practice, and their impact on museum, heritage, and arts organisations; independent and private arts initiatives; international heritage and museum-policy bodies; local, regional, and international networks; and implicit and explicit cultural policy frameworks.
